A unique collection of archival abstract works was prepared for this occasion, which is remarkable for the diversity of the artist's op-art creations and cosmic visions, and is also complemented by related installation elements.
The exhibition is enriched with a permanent guided tour, which visitors can listen to by recording a QR code.
You will find out how the painter got to abstract work, why he is fascinated by the universe, or what it is like to take a journey to the Universal King.
The exhibition in Havlíčk's villa is a continuation of Vojtek's landscape exhibition UNDER THE ARM OF PRINTING WINGS... in the Municipal Museum and Gallery Břeclav, which is on view until 30 June 2024.
Cellist Miroslav Zicha will perform at the opening of the Mezi svéty exhibition.

Hello, dear visitors, allow me to briefly introduce the exhibition Mezi světy, which has just opened.
The whole year 2024, which for us mainly means a year full of exhibitions to celebrate the important jubilee of the painter Antonín Vojtek, is accompanied by the symbolism of flying. At the Municipal Museum and Gallery in Břeclav, a week ago we opened the exhibition Under the wings of the printing press... under the wings of ninety white birds. They symbolize not only the painter's long journey, but also his specific perception of the South Moravian landscape. The artist floats above her together with flocks of migrating geese, recognizes her on the wings of his roger or looks at her from new angles in his dreams. Prague art historian Vilém Stránský emphasizes that Antonín Vojtek is the first artist who created a whole cycle of oil paintings based on flying motifs. This refers mainly to the period when the author was strongly influenced by flying on a rogal. However, Antonín Vojtek flies even now in his paintings, and he even flew long before he actually took to the air.
Most viewers associate the painter Antonín Vojtek with his specific vision of the South Moravian landscape. However, the roots of his original handwriting grow precisely from abstract op-art work and also from his cosmic visions.
He started experimenting with abstract art in 1969 in connection with joining the art group Konfese. His abstract works, in which pastel colors predominated and were also dominated by black, which completely disappeared from the painter's color in the later stages of his work, belong to an important and turning point in his work. Even in the first works inspired by cosmic visions, typical features of his later morphology can be observed. Abstract work within the Konfese group became the next stage on the way to finding a special artistic expression, which was later reflected in his landscape paintings. Although at present the author does not devote himself to abstract creation to such an extent, in the course of his artistic activity one can observe returns to abstract expression in the form of smaller cycles. The Odjinud cycle is the most significant and also not extensive.
As part of this exhibition, we would like to show you many previously unexhibited works by Antonín Vojtek and introduce you to a different location of his work in three rooms. In the Between Worlds room, you can observe how landscape creation closely intertwines with elements of abstract expression. In Odjinud, together with the author, we will go on a journey to the Universal King, and in the last room called the Starship, you will see the first abstract works and also drawings influenced by the author's fascination with space and the science fiction genre.
If you want to learn more, you can use the QR codes that will take you to the recordings of the interviews that we have prepared for you together with him.
In conclusion, I would like to invite you, who may not have made it yet, to visit the exhibition Pod paží tisknu křidla..., which will last until the end of June, and above all to thank the entire team from Havlíčkova Vila for their help in realizing the exhibition Mezi světy and for giving you the opportunity to see this unique concept to introduce. We wish you a nice experience from the exhibition.
Thank you for your attention. Julie Vojtková
